Fornengo Forest Products employs two professional foresters who are retired from the Minnesota DNR with 80 years of combined experience. One forester works primarily with public lands forest management and the other in private lands forest management.

We care deeply about the forest and we knew that our stand of Red Oak was very sensitive and required expert management. Fortunately for us, Fornengo Forestry was recommended by our forester. Fornengo recognized the needs of the Red Oaks and prescribed the cutting methods to enhance the stand.
The following is our history with Fornengo Forestry:
- Fornengo Forestry implemented our Forest Management Plan (MN-DNR Woodland Stewardship Plan) and we are thrilled with the results. Fornengo not only has the knowledge but has also invested in the latest logging equipment to perform the logging methods required.
- In 2012, Fornengo thinned and harvested our pine plantation (American Tree Farm System: MN 6765) and • the mature aspen surrounding the plantation
- Starting in 2015 with completion in 2017, Fornengo uses the crown release method while thinning our 200 acre stand of oaks. Fornengo used the shelterwood cutting method to manage 160 acres of other hardwood forest. In the red oak thinning, knowing that the following process is the easiest on the land, they felled the trees and then used a processor and stacked the logs in the woods. They then used a forwarder to carry them out to the road.
Fornengo Forest responsibly worked in our forest knowing that we wanted to manage it for future generations, to encourage wildlife habitat, to maintain trails for wildlife, hunting, hiking and cross-country skiing, to be eligible to enroll in the Sustainable Forest Incentive Act, and to enhance timber growth potential and profit. These are only a few of our goals as they dealt with the diversity of the red oaks, the mixed hardwoods, the red pine tree plantation, the farm fields and the wetlands.
And more than all of that, Fornengo Forestry is a pleasure to work with; they are honest, fair and they make sure that the landowner is happy with the work being done. They respond quickly to questions and concerns.
